                               Compost
The average household produces almost 500 lbs. per year of organic matter. If you're not composting you're paying trash sticker fees to have it all taken away as trash! Get a compost bin from Town Hall and learn how from the Sierra Club and the Mass DEP.
            Lawns
Organic lawn care from Marblehead's Living Lawn Project.
Natural lawn care and grounds maintenance from SafeLawns.org.

Use a push mower instead and cut your yearly household emissions by 10% ! For a 50  x 120 foot yard, it takes no longer to cut the grass than with a gas mower. You can't cut backwards, and it has trouble with really high grass, but you can mow early in the morning, before it gets hot, without disturbing your neighbors. Such simplicity! You just push and cut. No checking the gas tank or yanking that chord. Maintenance is minimal as well.
