Communal Compost Pilot

Milton Communal Compost Program:

To increase compost participation, promote environmental stewardship, and keep food waste in the food chain, the Town of Milton is providing three communal compost bins for all residents, funded by a grant through MassDEP. Program is for residents only, not for commercial or business use

Bring your food scraps to the communal compost bins at:

  • DPW YARD: 629 Randolph Avenue

  • TOWN HALL: 525 Canton Avenue

  • MUNICIPAL LOT 'C' EAST MILTON: Across from 330 Granite Avenue

The bins are available 24/7 for food scrap drop offs and free of charge! For acceptable compost items please use this guide here: What Can I Put in the Compost Bin?

To access the lock combo code to open the bins fill out this form here! All bins have the same lock combo.

*Please note, it's extremely important to avoid contamination in the compost bin- if our provider finds Milton has high rates of contamination this resource will be shut down. Contamination is anything that does not belong in the food scrap bin. Refer to the link above for what's acceptable.
