Food Waste: What is it?
Food waste is left over food from anything you eat! Left over food scraps can be turned into Compost at home OR through a compost service!
Composting at home and Composting commercially look a little different but the ideas are the same!
Lets take a closer LOOK!!!
COMPOSTING is a process in which organic material gets broken down by microorganisms into very small particles and turned into nutritious soil that we can use in our gardens to grow more food or other plants!
Watch this video about composting!

COMPOSTING AT HOME can look different in different homes. Most people will keep a small bin in their kitchen to collect food scraps such as fruit peels, vegetable scraps, paper products.
Things you can not compost at home include dairy, meat or bread because they tend to get rancid in smaller compost piles and attract animals and can harbor harmful bacteria.

COMMERCIAL COMPOSTING is different than at home composting because it is collected and taken to a facility to be processed in larger amounts! The when there is a service provider that will come and pick up your food/organic waste. Commercial composting has associated fees that at home composting does not but has less limitations to what you can put it there. This is because the processing is much larger and hotter and can kill harmful bacteria.

COMPOSTING IS GOOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY!
