Sustainable Milton's Strategic Goals — How You Can Help
At its June 2026 board meeting, Sustainable Milton's board formally adopted a new set of strategic goals, and we want you to be part of achieving them. Our priority goals for the year ahead:
Increase participation in CEA 100% Green by 1,000 households by June 2027. Enrolling in the 100% green option of Milton's Community Electricity Aggregation program is the easiest single step a household can take toward clean energy.
Increase Black Earth compost subscribers to 600 households by June 2027.
Implement composting programs in the kitchens of Pierce and Milton High School by August 2027.
Decrease Milton's curbside recycling contamination rate below the 10% threshold required to avoid fees and penalties. Cleaner recycling saves the town money, reducing Why the need to increase trash fees.
Recruit new active volunteers across multiple commitment levels by December 2026.
We've also set our sights on a longer list of stretch goals, which we could achieve with greater volunteer involvement:
Hosting four community film events,
laying the groundwork for a home electrification coaching program,
a 25% increase in Mass Save participation, and
securing commitments to electrify the HVAC systems at Town Hall and the abutting churches.
Every one of these goals depends on connecting with more of our neighbors — a conversation over coffee, tabling at events — and sharing a call to action that is accessible and compelling. Two ways you can help:
Volunteer. We're recruiting at every level of commitment, from an hour a month to leading a project. We especially need people with skills in marketing, outreach, and event planning. If you've ever run a campaign, planned a fundraiser, managed a social media account, or organized a community event, we could use your help.
Give. Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 to support our outreach this year — despite being an all-volunteer organization, expenses for digital outreach tools, printing costs, and film licensing fees add up! Every dollar helps us reach another household.
